What happens when your clients doesn’t have (or doesn’t use) any kind of project documentation?

This may relate to program/system documentation, system specifications, or even processes and procedures, and could either be a failure of not having a proper quality management system in place, or not having one at all.

Line Manager!As the week draws to a close and the forecast of yet more snow, it’s the end of my first week on a new assignment. There have been several analysis and development tasks, including a deadline to be met by other staff members. Also a document to be read on professional conduct and due diligence, outlining the policies of internet and email use, while touching on external blogs. This coincidentally leads on from a previous post of mine – the blog roadmap. It reinforces my reasons for why it is important to exercise restraint in blog posts, unlike that practiced by many bloggers of today.

The current economic crisis has had a severe effect on the IT contractor market. In fact, since the last quarter of 2008, the number of jobs being advertised has dropped massively. The scale of the job cuts in other industries only serve as to exacerbate the general feelings of pessimism in the IT freelance market.
